Tamboran Resources Appoints Todd Abbott as Managing Director as Beetaloo Basin Moves Towards Development
Tamboran Resources Names CEO Todd Abbott as Managing Director, Effective October 19, 2026, Following First Gas Sales from Its Beetaloo Basin Project
Tamboran Resources Corporation has appointed Chief Executive Officer Todd Abbott as Managing Director, effective October 19, 2026. The appointment formalises Abbott’s executive leadership at board level as the company transitions from appraisal to development of its Beetaloo Basin gas assets in Australia’s Northern Territory. Abbott was appointed CEO in January 2026.
Abbott brings more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, spanning unconventional shale operations, infrastructure, strategy, business planning and corporate finance. Tamboran Chairman Richard Stoneburner said Abbott’s upstream experience, operational leadership, focus on safety and capital discipline would support the company through its next phase of development.
The leadership appointment comes after Tamboran and its joint venture partner, Daly Waters Energy LP, announced their first gas sales from the Shenandoah South Pilot Project in September 2026. The milestone marked the first delivery of Beetaloo Basin gas into the Northern Territory gas market and the start of the project’s commissioning phase.
Production is expected to increase progressively to 40 terajoules per day by early 2027. This would meet the volume contracted to the Northern Territory Government under a long-term take-or-pay agreement. During commissioning, Tamboran and Daly Waters Energy will receive a discounted gas price to reflect the interruptible nature of supply.
Tamboran’s broader strategy is to supply natural gas to the Northern Territory, Australia’s east coast and Asia-Pacific markets as it develops the basin’s resources.
The company confirmed that the material terms of Abbott’s appointment remain unchanged from those announced when he became CEO.
