Hammerson has appointed Gina Szymanski as Chief Financial Officer following a thorough search, with her appointment and Board membership expected to take effect no later than January 1, 2027.
Hammerson PLC, a London-based real estate investment trust focused on city-centre shopping centres, has appointed Gina Szymanski as Chief Financial Officer. She is expected to take up the role and join the Board no later than January 1, 2027.
Szymanski will succeed Himanshu Raja, who retired on August 12. Richard Shaw, Hammerson’s Deputy CFO, has been serving as Interim CFO since Raja stepped down. Szymanski’s appointment follows a thorough recruitment process supported by an independent executive search firm.
Szymanski joins Hammerson from AEW Capital Management, where she serves as Global Securities Chief Investment Officer in Boston, Massachusetts. She will relocate to the UK before taking up her new position. Hammerson has £4.8 billion in assets under management.
Hammerson Chief Executive Officer Rob Wilkinson welcomed Szymanski, highlighting her sector expertise, capital markets experience and track record of value creation. Szymanski said she was excited to join Hammerson at an important stage in its development and sees opportunities in the retail sector. She added that Hammerson is well positioned operationally and financially to benefit from growth opportunities across the market.
