British American Tobacco PLC (BAT), the London-based manufacturer of cigarettes and nicotine products, has appointed Bruce Sewell as a Non-Executive Director, effective January 1. Sewell brings extensive experience in the global technology sector, regulatory engagement and listed-company board leadership.

Sewell currently serves as Lead Director of Vail Resorts Inc. Previously, he held senior leadership positions at Apple Inc., serving as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Before joining Apple, he spent 14 years at Intel Corporation, building significant experience in the technology industry and corporate leadership.

His professional background includes engagement with governments and regulatory authorities across the United States, Europe and Asia. He also brings listed-company board experience, including exposure to artificial intelligence (AI), which BAT expects to be valuable as it navigates evolving regulatory requirements and technological developments.

BAT Chair Luc Jobin highlighted Sewell’s global technology expertise, regulatory experience and board-level insights as important additions to the company’s leadership. Jobin noted that Sewell’s perspective would support BAT as it pursues its Horizon 2030 ambitions and continues its stated goal of building a Smokeless World.
