NLC India Appoints Prasanna Kumar Acharya as CMD

 NLC India Limited has appointed Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, formerly Director (Finance), as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), effective September 17, 2026, for a period of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

NLC India Limited has appointed Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), effective September 17, 2026. The appointment was approved by the President of India and conveyed through the Ministry of Coal for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Prior to his appointment as CMD, Acharya served as Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer of NLC India. Following his elevation, he relinquished these positions. Sanoj Kumar Jha, who was holding the additional charge of CMD, handed over the responsibility to Acharya.

Acharya is a seasoned professional with nearly three decades of experience. During his career, he has held key positions at organisations including GRIDCO, NTPC and Tata Power.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Honours) from Utkal University, Odisha, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from M.S. Law College, Cuttack and a Master of Commerce from Ravenshaw University, Odisha. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Acharya is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India and an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He holds a Ph.D. from Utkal University and has also completed a Management Development Programme in Strategic Finance from IIM Lucknow.
